Wear it with a wink

Introduction

A series of custom T-shirts made for friends and family. Designed with heart, humour and a personal touch.

This was the project:

From iconic family quotes to birthday jokes, each shirt in this collection was crafted for someone I care about. No mass production, just meaningful, wearable stories.

Challenge

How do you turn an inside joke, a catchphrase or a feeling into something visual? The goal was to make shirts that feel tailor-made — fun to wear, and even more fun to give.

My approach

Each design started with a person and a phrase. I brainstormed visuals that would feel both surprising and true to their character. After sketching by hand, I digitised the designs and prepared them for vinyl cut and heat press, carefully testing colours and placement.

RESULT

Each shirt became its own little tribute:
– “Bompa is nog steeds de baas” for my grandfather’s birthday, following the legendary “Bompa is de baas” family slogan
– “Glas leeg, bijvullen graag” as a cheeky gift for my aunt turning 50
– “Yapping or Napping” as a cat-honouring shirt for my partner
– “Solar Bola” for a classmate’s festival merch concept
They’re all unique, and yet part of the same story: design that starts close to home.

Project showcase

This is THE highlight section.

A cheeky birthday surprise for my aunt turning 50. Because some milestones deserve a toast (or two). Designed to be worn while raising a glass, preferably full.
Made for a classmate’s self-started festival, this merch concept captures the sunny vibe and playful name.
A design that’s ready to dance in the fields.
